Covid-19-Vaccination

Retrospective analysis of the decision on vaccination (SARS-CoV 2) using the example of a stationary nursing home operator.

What factors are significant for the fact that carers are so sceptical about the current vaccines against COVID-19?

Korian Deutschland AG, Germany's largest private nursing home operator with its head office in Munich, now wants to analyse this question as well as potentially influencing factors in a project on behalf of the Korian Foundation for Care and Aging with Dignity. So far, information on the incidence of infection in the individual facilities has been documented centrally. In addition, information is collected on a voluntary basis about the number of carers who have opted for or against Covid 19 vaccination.

The Korian Foundation is planning an anonymous survey/study that will be sent to all managers of Korian homes. The survey will focus on the three responsible groups of people: facility managers, nursing staff and vaccination teams. By surveying socio-demographic factors, we want to gain empirically based insights about the reasons for the worries and doubts as well as the sources of information used by the sceptics and those who are still uncertain. The results of this project will provide a basis for the development of services to counter fears and reduce uncertainties.

There is a lot of uncertainty about vaccination, also in the care sector. But it is precisely because nurses work with and for people who are part of the Corona Risk Groups that a sensitive information is needed. One thing is for certain: Nobody can be vaccinated against their will.

However, it goes without saying that three scientific stages must be successfully completed for the national and international approval of vaccines. And this is the case with the current vaccines, and both vaccine manufacturers and medical experts agree: herd immunity can only be achieved with nationwide vaccination.

Korian Deutschland AG hopes that the project will help in the fight against the pandemic. The results of the study will be made available to care providers throughout Germany.
