Sustainable care also requires technical innovations.
What should a care facility of the future look like?
This is the focus of the "Care 2030" project. Given the great need for action in long-term inpatient care, the Haus Curanum care facility in Karlsfeld will be a model for quantitatively and qualitatively needs-based care in real operation. The facility's equipment will be expanded with digital care technology and staffing levels will be researched and optimized. All of this to ensure that growing older in inpatient care is dignified.
The aim is to comprehensively evaluate the entire project in terms of care quality and to create modular handouts that other institutions can use as a blueprint for implementation.
On December 19, 2022, the project was officially opened on site by Klaus Holetschek, Bavarian State Minister for Health and Care.
We are very pleased about the launch of "Care 2030" at the Korian facility in Karlsfeld. In these three years, supported by scientific support, a modernized care concept can be implemented that will sustainably ease the daily workload of caregivers and support them in their routines, thus also benefiting those in need of care.

In the Care 2030 project, there are many promising trends that are being tested in real-time operation. The employees of Curanum Karlsfeld are heavily involved in the process and decide on the technology that is used. The end result is that the working lives of the employees are made easier and at the same time the availability of the staff and the service for the residents are increased.

Improving care in Germany is a key issue for the future. This includes both a dignified care situation for people in need of care and an improvement in the nursing profession. For us as the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care, the “Care 2030” project is therefore forward-looking. We hope to gain sustainable insights for a long-term improvement in inpatient care in Bavaria and beyond.
